Compare what each organisation contributes

Ask who supplies customer discovery, product leadership, technical delivery, recruitment and commercial support. An accelerator may provide mentoring, connections and sometimes investment. A studio may provide an operating team and help shape the venture. An agency may deliver a specific project without taking responsibility for the broader business.

Understand the commercial arrangement

Compare fees, equity, investment, ongoing charges and any conditions attached to support. Ask how changes in scope affect the arrangement. Understand what happens if the collaboration ends. Ownership, control and intellectual property should be clearly documented with advice appropriate to the actual transaction.

Check evidence and working relationships

Meet the people who would do the work. Ask for relevant examples, clarify their role in those examples and speak with founders where introductions are available. Establish how priorities are set and disagreements resolved. Strong personal rapport helps, but should sit alongside clear responsibilities.

Choose support for the stage you are at

A founder with a working product may need distribution support more than another development team. Someone with deep industry insight and no delivery capability may need a different relationship. At Amina, business, finance and technology are brought together; scope, responsibilities and commercial arrangements are agreed for each venture.

Your next steps

  • Identify the support you actually need.
  • Meet the proposed delivery team.
  • Compare fees, equity and commitments.
  • Clarify ownership and exit arrangements.
